Testing Deadline Extended?

Hello Home School Families,

Last year, due to Covid, the Oregon Department of Education extended the deadline to complete achievement testing from August 15 to November 1. The extension was a temporary action and does not carry  into 2021.

Will the Department extend the deadline to complete testing again this year? That is a possibility, but as of now, the deadline for completing testing is August 15. In light of the continued impact of Covid, the end-of-summer fires that impacted many of us, the ice storm last month, many families are off schedule. Another extension would be welcome. But for now, plan on completing testing by August 15.

In January many political leaders forecasted a “dark winter” Covid wise. Now things are opening up, unexpectedly to me at least. We’ve been getting requests for on-site group testing. While remote testing will still be the go to choice for many, we are looking at offering in-person group tests which will be open to all home schoolers in the following parts of Washington and Oregon:

Southwest Washington

Warren

McMinnville

Beaverton

Pendleton

Bend

Prineville

Klamath Falls

We plan on posting in-person group test dates on our website once we confirm the interest is there. That should be sometime in the next week to ten days.

If you have any questions about the above, please don’t hesitate to be in touch- phone (503) 650-5282 or email info@basicskills.net
