On-site Group Testing Safeguards

The requirement for home schoolers to complete end-of-the testing, Covid 19 notwithstanding, has not changed. While many families have chosen to test remotely, other families have decided to have their students test “on-site” in a group setting.

If that’s your preference, you may be wondering what kind of safeguards should be in place? We’ve asked ourselves the same question.  In the interest of insuring everyone’s health and safety, the following standards, consistent with state and local laws, is what we came up with.

Who May/may Not Test:

*          Children in a family where there has been an occurrence of Covid must use the remote testing option. Remote testing dates can be viewed here

*          Children with allergies/cold symptoms should use the remote testing option, unless the source of their symptoms can be verified. Or, using one of our independent examiners is another option.

Test Day:

*          Only students should be in the building/room where testing is taking place. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.

*          Two students may sit diagonally at an 8 foot table. One student per 6-foot table. Assigned seating is recommended. There will be 6th foot spacing between students at all times. Masks will be optional. The seating standard does not apply to students who are members of the same family.

*          Students should use a hand sanitizer upon entering the testing room.

*          Students should bring their own pencils and calculators. Paper rulers and scratch paper should be provided by the examiner.

*          Students will remain in the room for the entire test session, including snack and restroom break. Snacks should be brought in a paper bag, eaten at the tables. Trash should be discarded at conclusion of the test.

*          Examiners will dismiss the students at the conclusion of the test and will collect all testing materials (books, answer sheets).

The above standards are not “set in cement.” They are subject to change as local and state standards are modified as we all learn more about COVID 19.

If you wish to move forward with on-site group testing, go here to see available groups. More dates will be added as we move deeper into summer.
