Natalie Trust

Education & Experience:

Natalie received her degree for Warner Pacific College. She has taught at Basic Skills for the last three years and is most loved by her students.

Thelma English

Teaches : Classical Literature Circle

Education & Experience:  Thelma attended Western Seminary in Portland part-time for four years. Thelma has been teaching home educated teens for over 12 years. Thelma's goals are to make the study of literature relevant to Christianity and to help students learn how to engage their culture in positive, life-changing ways.

Linda Hitz

Teaches : Fundamentals in Art, Drawing I, Advanced Art Lab

Education & Experience: Linda worked in Child Development and in Art throughout her Senior year in high school. She also studied Interior Design at Bassist College.

Jerry Jones

Teaches :  Algebra I, Algebra II, Chemistry, Physical Science

Education & Experience: Jerry has 3 years Engineering Studies at UCLA; BS in Mathematics at Warner Pacific College and a Masters of Religion/Pastoral Studies at Warner Pacific College. In the past Jerry has taught many core Junior High & High School classes, including the Sciences, Math, English Grammer & Literature, History/Geography/Government, as well as Biblical Studies.

Kristen Kohl

Teaches : Jr. High Spanish, Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III/IV, Jr. High Writing

Education & Experience: Kristen attended Sacramento State University. She later transferred to the University of California, Davis (UCD) and majored in Spanish with a minor in ESL (English as a Second Language).

Kristen lived in Spain for a year and taught ESL in Madrid. After this she returned to Davis, CA, and got her secondary teaching credential in Spanish. She also taught ESL at a junior high school to Vietnamese & Mexican children and Spanish for 10 years at a high school. Kristen has also taught Spanish at North Clackamas Christian School for 4 years.

Jodi Smith

Teaches : Personal Finance/Economics, US History

Education & Experience: Jodi has been a home schooling mom for thirteen years. She attended Portland State University, majoring in Theatre Arts. From 1999-2001 she was the drama teacher at New Covenant Christian Academy. Although her educational background is not strictly in social studies, she has been involved in politics as a member of a politically active family. Her involvement in how our government works, and her theatrical research has given her a unique perspective on the history of the world in general, and US history specifically.

Randy Souders

Teaches :World History/Global Studies

Education and Experience :Randy graduated from Warner Pacific College in 1978. He has taught US History at Basic Skills for the last 5 years.

Krysti Emerson

Teaches : Home Economics

Education & Experience : Homemaker for 23 years; home school mom for 18 years. I have taught various classes at Basic Skills over the years including Literature, Writing and Personal Finance. I am a professional seamstress, working from home doing both alterations, and custom sewing. I will be teaching the sewing portion of the Home Ec class.

Other Info: Married 26 years - Steve Emerson, 5 Children- 3 graduated.

Kim Hayes

Teaches : Biology A & B, Human Anatomy & Physiology

Education & Experience : Mrs. Hayes is very well qualified not only as a home school mom of two for 22 years, but also as a science teacher. Mrs. Hayes has worked with the home schooling community in the past, serving as a science teacher for several home school groups. Before this she also worked as an X-ray technician and trained in all areas of laboratory science. Mrs. Hayes is a longtime resident of Oregon . She attended Oregon College of Education and Portland Community College . She has received her X-ray license and has her Associates in Applied Science

Marianne Martini

Teaches : Speech

Education & Experience: Marianne concurrently attended Northwest Christian College and the University of Oregon earning a BA in Biblical Studies and Speech Communications.  After teaching speech and debate at a high school in Albany , Oregon , Marianne completed her Masters in Speech Communication at Texas Christian University . While  homeschooling her own three children, she has continued to teach for 17 years at the college level.  Currently she is on the faculty at Mt. Hood Community College and this past year taught a high school speech and debate class in Clackamas for homeschooled students.

Betsy Rouse

Teaches : Math Lab, Jr. High US History

Education & Experience: Betsy is currently attending Multnomah Bible College, majoring in Bible and Theology with a minor in English. She has also taken History online from Patrick Henry College in Virginia.

For the past 4 1/2 years she has enjoyed running Crosswalk Drama, a drama company specifically designed for home school students. A long-time history enthusiast, Betsy has been priviledged to incorporate her love of history with her love of drama on the stage. In the last few years, she has traveled to many American historical sites, such as Williamsburg, Yorktown, Washington D.C., and many Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields.  

Heidi Rouse

Teaches : Yearbook

Education & Experience : Heidi attended Clackamas Community College and Canby Bible College where she graduated in 2005. She began tutoring in math for Clackamas Community College and at Basic Skills since 2003. She has instructed in a variety of educational levels as well as learning styles for both individual and group classes. Hobbies included a variety of creative arts and photography as well as travel and ministry work.  

Jill Schulenberg

Teaches : Jr. High General Science

Education & Experience : Jill was home schooled and has been attending Clackamas Community College for the past two years. She plans to major in pre-medicine. Her focus at CCC has been directed toward math and science, where she has completed 2nd year chemistry and multiple math classes up to Calculus 3 level. She also tutored advanced math at Basic Skills this last year (2006-2007).

Cassandra Neumann

Education & Experience : Cassandra has attended both Clackamas and Mount Hood Community Colleges and is currently finishing her Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree. For the past three years she has worked as an academic tutor with junior high and high school students. She has a desire for instilling into each of her students the same passion for knowledge and learning that she shares.
