Diploma Program

Accountability, Advice, Academic Support

Parents who decide to home school their children during their middle and high school years often face unexpected challenges. The Diploma Program has been developed to help you face and successfully overcome those challenges. Our experienced staff and trained advisors are here to help you reach your academic goals.

The Diploma Program provides the following services:

  • Academic Support --Parents and students are assigned to a Diploma Program Advisor (DPA) who oversees the completion of coursework. The DPA is also a resource person for choosing curriculum, answering questions, and making suggestions for meeting educational goals.
  • Quarterly Evaluations-- Parents and their student(s) meet with their DPA four times during the academic year. At these meetings, quarterly course work is reviewed and grades are recorded.
  • Grade Reports and Transcripts-- At the end of each academic year, students in grades 7-8 receive a report card and high school students receive a transcript with a cumulative GPA. This transcript, while currently non-accredited, has been accepted by colleges, both private and public, and by the armed services.
  • On-Site Classes-- Students may choose to enjoy attending classes at Basic Skills to fulfill some of their course requirements.
  • Student ID Cards-- Student identification cards are available to students enrolled in Diploma Program. These laminated cards have the school name and logo and the student's picture and signature.
  • Achievement Test-- A California Achievement Test is administered to each student in a group setting at the conclusion of the academic year.
  • Diploma/Commencement Ceremony-- Students who complete the graduation requirements are awarded an NCCA Diploma and may participate in a commencement ceremony in June.
